Existing translations
Bangladesh has a population of 180 Million but the number of industries are very low. So informal sector is the main sector for the workers which is about 70% of the working force. Among these, about 5 million people earn their living by plying battery-run electric auto-rickshaw, easy bikes and other electric vehicles. But the government of Bangladesh hasn't registered these vehicles by law yet, rather they have declared recently that they will ban these vehicles. Electric vehicle workers, who are around 5 million in number, have rejected this decision and are making huge protests throughout the country.
ICOR pledges deep solidarity with the electric vehicle workers struggle in Bangladesh and urges the government of Bangladesh to register these vehicles by law and protect the livelihood of 5 million people.
