The fascist Trump has been voted out of office!

ICOR, 23 November 2020

Trump, you're fired!

The fact that Donald Trump was voted out of office as President of the USA is a great success of the working-class, the women's and the popular movement in the United States. Celebrations are taking place in many of its cities and regions! Trump's personal leadership style to enforce his ultra-reactionary policies and his method of government, based on the ideology of racism, sexism and social chauvinism, with lies and demagogy coupled with state terror, were voted out of office.

Voted out of office were:

  • the intensification and escalation of wars, also by forcing local allies to carry greater financial burdens for the support of the American military power;

  • the failure in the fight against corona, consciously taking the loss of human lives into account for stopping the fight against corona;

  • the denial of the destruction of the environment.

All this was no longer acceptable for millions!

Millions of people made use of their right to vote for the first time in order to get rid of Trump.

During the counting, thousands of demonstrators, especially young people, protested under the slogan "Count every vote!" against Trump's attempts to prevent the counting of votes by mail and their being declared illegal. The fact that the election campaign of Joe Biden/Kamala Harris was mainly financed by 150 billionaires, also expresses the hope of international and US-American finance capital that they would be better able than Trump to push back the awakened class consciousness of the working class and the militant consciousness of the masses. So their election corresponds to the wish of a part of the ruling class in the USA. Biden, too, stands for policies hostile to the masses. As a senator he supported racist police laws, and as Obama's Vice President he stood for a domestic and foreign policy in the interest of US imperialism, just as he stands now as the next US president.

The Democratic Party is, as is its competitor, the Republican Party, a party of US capital! It is a great illusion to await a fundamental improvement of the conditions of the exploited and oppressed from a Biden government. In its foreign policy it will also continue the policies of US imperialism. Perhaps the aggressiveness of propaganda will change. However, an aggressive foreign policy in the interest of US imperialism can also be expected from Biden.

S
truggles of the working-class, the working people, the oppressed oppose Trump's fascist methods.

The protests since the elections are part of a wave of working-class and mass struggles in the USA, which have taken an upswing, in particular with the Black-Lives-Matter movement. At least 1,100 strikes and militant actions 1 have taken place since March. The US-American trade-union movement is positioning itself more strongly politically. The eight-hour strike of longshoremen on the West Coast on 19 June in solidarity with the anti-racism movement is just one example.

Trump's defeat is also a political defeat for the fascists in the world like Narendra Modi, the Europeans Erdogan and Orban, Bolsonaro, Duque and others.

But still, more than 73 million people voted for Trump. That means that Trump's ultra-reactionary, partly fascist policies continue to be supported by parts of US-American finance capital, but also have a substantial mass base in the USA. His demagogy, single wage increases and the creation of jobs based on the "America first" policy have also led to a certain amount of support among less class-conscious workers, which Biden does not have. This must not be underestimated and must be a lesson for the necessary consciousness-raising in the entire world, particularly because Trump and his backers and followers will continue to take influence, ideologically and politically. Furthermore, the Biden administration can make use of this approval of reactionary policies to water down its own election promises.

Will Trump be organizing a coup?

So far, Trump refuses to acknowledge his election defeat. Because he is the acting commander-in-chief of the army and the National Guard until January 20, this is highly dangerous. The post-election dismissal of his Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, who had opposed him when Trump wanted to send military units in active duty against protests in Washington and other cities, has raised serious concerns about his intentions. At least seven trade unions and three local chapters of the trade-union umbrella organization AFL-CIO demand that their umbrella organization call for a general strike if Trump refuses to leave office. Then the ICOR organizations will call on the workers and the broad masses in their countries for solidarity activities. It is important to prevent that these democratic struggles are misused as an instrument of the Democratic Party in the power contest with Trump.

The working class of the USA needs the socialist perspective!

Trump was voted out of office, but the struggle against fascism continues. Sexism, racism and xenophobia continue to exist. Biden cannot simply provide a solution for the political and social polarization, and it is possible that a general societal crisis develops in the USA.

The progressive and revolutionary forces and movements in the USA can be encouraged to join together in an anti-imperialist and antifascist united front and to further strengthen the Marxist-Leninist forces and party-building in the USA.

Worldwide solidarity with the antifascist, anti-racist and revolutionary movement in the USA!

For the strengthening of the revolutionary parties and organizations!

Forward with the construction of the ICOR and the anti-imperialist united front!
