Solidarity letter for Percy in Greece

ICOR European Continental Committee, April 20, 2020

To

WORKERS UNION IN PUBLICATIONS, BOOKSTORES, PHOTO COPY CENTERS, STATIONERY, DIGITAL DEVICES OF ATTICA (ATHENS – GREECE)

Dear Percy,

dear comrades,

Thank you so much for your report on the scandalous Percy firing.

We join you in demanding Percy's immediate reinstatement.

What Percy is experiencing is an example of how throughout Europe the ruling capitalist class and state institutions are trying to impose political emergency measures. Justified measures such as distance bans are being misused to massively reduce democratic rights, to ban demonstrations or strikes. This goes as far as - as in your case - restricting trade union rights and dismissing workers who are not approved by the capitalists. The application of emergency laws shows at the same time that the capitalist class is very afraid of the working class, afraid for its rule.

The working class is also learning to adapt to the crisis and "emergency of the ruling class" by becoming more united.

Solidarity is the strength of the working class movement!

It has already shown its strength in numerous strikes against the continuation of production, in which there is no adequate protection for the workers.

ICOR¹ is currently working with ILPS² to build a worldwide anti-imperialist united front. You can learn more about this on the homepage of ICOR www.icor.info. Wouldn't this be a good project in which you could participate with your trade union?

We ask you to tell us how the struggle for the reinstatement of Percy continues. Please forward the protest letter of the ICOR to the management of King's College.

With solidary greetings
