#AllWomenProtestViolence

May 28, 2020

Dear friends,

We send our love and greetings in the hope that you are doing well and your health is fine in these corona days.
Covid-19 pandemia is devastating the world and has its affect on everyone but the pandemia has far-reaching effects on women, the LGBTI+, refugee women and disabled women as well.

A call was issued for us to stay at home, overlooking the fact that home is not a safe place for most women, and disregarding the fact that there are homeless women or women who have to work. However, home is one of the most dangerous places for us. Quarantine measures and lockdowns have resulted in exponential rises in violence against women and the LGBTI+ world over. We see that many states take no measures against this increase in violence while the measures taken by others are insufficient. The elready inadequate mechanisms that women and LGBTI+ can resort to in the face of violence have become completely inoperative during this period of pandemia.

Therefore, we think it would be good if as women and LGBTI+ all over the world, we take action against this surge of violence in our lives in the context of patriarchy and coronavirus. In this context, we are making a call to raise our voices from all corners of the world with the hashtag *#AllWomenProtestViolence on May 28, 2020* (all the day round due to time zone differences). If you wish to join this call and wish to be part of the map where we will tag all the participating countries, you can contact us at*kadinlarbirlikteguclu@gmail.com*
