Call of the ICOR for the International Day of Struggle against Fascism and War on 8/9 May, 6 August and 1 September 2019

ICOR, 28 May 2019

74 years ago, on 8 May 1945 in Europe and on 2 September 1945 in Asia, the end of Hitler fascism and the 2nd World War was sealed. Especially the Red Army, tens of thousands of partisans, civilians, as well as the allied forces had mobilized all forces and risked their lives to defeat the fascist beast.

Shortly thereafter, on 6 August 1945 and then on 9 August 1945, for the first time in history, the USA dropped the atom bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. They feared the spreading of the socialist influence of the Soviet Union. 100,000 people died immediately, at least 130,000 by the end of 1945, many more in the following years.

80 years ago, on 1 September 1939, German imperialism with its fascist Hitler regime launched the 2nd World War. More than 55 million deaths through this imperialist war are a warning for us! The worldwide peace movement must become stronger and coordinate worldwide!

In commemoration of these three events, the ICOR observes anti-war day every year on 8/9 May, 6 August and 1 September in the various regions.

Today especially the growing inter-imperialist contradictions are the cause of war. The main warmonger is the currently strongest imperialist great power USA. However, the struggle against imperialist war must be led against the war preparations and belligerent acts of all imperialists.

The building of a worldwide anti-imperialist, antifascist united front against fascism and war is more urgent today than ever before! The ICOR started an international call for this in November 2018.

The death hostility of Hitler-fascism was directed at the socialist Soviet Union and the revolutionary forces of the world. Hitler's grandiosely proclaimed “eradication of Marxism with its roots“ ended in 1945 with the crushing defeat of anti-communism. The socialist camp emerged. Today, after the betrayal of socialism in the former socialist countries, it is necessary that the struggle for socialism take a new upswing. Only with the worldwide victory of socialism will the causes of the danger of war be overcome, will the peoples live together in peace and in unity with nature.

However, presently the general tendency of imperialist war preparations is increasing. Focal points of military conflicts are Syria and Ukraine. The USA is intensifying its war preparation against Iran. The USA are aggressively threatening Venezuela's sovereignty. They are already leading a war against the Venezuelan people: fuelling a catastrophic supply situation, supposedly justifying a „humanitarian“ invasion, constant threats and fear. A dangerous play with fire and the danger of a military clash and direct confrontation of various powers in the struggle for influence and access to the country with the worldwide largest oil reserves.

With the termination of the INF-agreement, which aimed at restricting the nuclear  intermediate-range missiles between the USA and Russia, a new round of nuclear arms race is initiated.

The fascist Turkish state openly threatens to attack entire Rojava, Northern Syria. From the very beginning, the ICOR took a stand for the democratic revolution in Rojava.

In defiance of international law, US President Trump continues his provocations in support of zionist regime in Israel by recognizing the Golan Heights as a part of Israel. Every justified criticism of the state of Israel and its reactionary government is demogogically defamed as being “anti-Semitic“.

The European Union (EU) is making efforts to appear as a peace power in face of the European elections in May. In truth, the EU is an imperialist block which is struggling for world power with increasing independence. The building of military structures through the „Permanent Structured Cooperation“ (PESCO) makes the aggressive character clearer. The ICOR Europe is participating in the European elections under the slogan “Rebellion against the imperialist EU is justified! Long live international solidarity – strengthen the ICOR!“

More and more governments and bourgeois parties are shifting to the right and that increases the danger of war. Among them are not only Donald Trump in the USA, but also Narendra Modi in India, Recep Tahip Erdogan in Turkey or Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil.

However, the workers and women, the peasants and the youth of the world do not comply! Millions of people are rising for peace, in the antifascist struggle, in the resistance against the threatening environmental catastrophe and against the dismantling of social and political rights. This can be seen worldwide in the increasing struggles of the working class and the masses of people.

All out against the imperialist warmongers!

All imperialists and foreign powers out of Syria! Fight against any imperialist interference!

Solidarity with the Kurdish and Palestinian liberation struggles!

Hands off Venezuela!

For building an international anti-imperialist and antifascist united front!

For peace, freedom and socialism!

Forward with the building of the ICOR!
