Resolution on Venezuela

The people of Venezuela are at a great turning point because of the politics of the USA to regain their supremacy in Latin America. For this aim the USA in conjunction with right-wing forces wants to give back the political and economic control to their allies of the big bourgeoisie, who are launching an entire political campaign in order to drive the Maduro government out of power. They are using the difficult economic situation due to the drastically fallen prices for oil.

 It is a difficult and perhaps the most difficult situation which the Bolivarian government of Venezuela has experienced since 1999. For it is confronting the USA, the governments of the region, the opposition, as well as a discontent people, because of the politically unstable situation, a bad social situation and manifestations of political repression.

 This situation is being used by the USA to exert still more pressure. By this, they want to restore their influence in Venezuela and throughout South America.

The government has called for a nationwide Constitutional Assembly so that all political positions will be heard and the people can put forward their criticism, discontent and proposals.

 In this difficult situation the ICOR is in solidarity with the Venezuelan people in their struggle for the right to democratically decide their own fate.
