100 Years October Revolution – Don't give anticommunism a chance

“A spectre is haunting Europe – the spectre of communism. All the powers of old Europe have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre (…) Two things result from this fact. Communism is already acknowledged by all European powers to be itself a power.” (Karl Marx, December 1847)

 Meanwhile we can proudly say that workers and revolutionaries of the world have accomplished it: The spectre has completed its flight around the world and has become indispensable as a perspective against imperialism. The ICOR campaign on 100 Years Socialist October Revolution comes right on time in order to spread the perspective of socialism among the masses, workers, peasants in an offensive way and to unfold a discussion among the masses on it. The ICOR organizations all over the world are active for that. As every year on MayDay, on the day of struggle, this year the Marxist-Leninist Group of Switzerland (MLSG) attracted attention with an exhibition on burning topics of the time: this year on the topic 100 Years October Revolution! In Zurich, as the city in which Lenin lived for a long time, it attracted much attention, approval among the workers and the masses and reinvigorated the strategy discussion among them.

 Reason enough for the bourgeois media to react with vile attacks, defamations and slander against the remarkable and also artistically very valuable exhibition. So the Zurich NZZ wrote: “Lenin answered to the question 'What is to be done?' with force and terror starting in 1917. (…) Finally there also is the problem that for a 'successful' construction of socialism millions of people had to be tortured and murdered. The great Chinese helmsman Mao Zedong, which the MLGS invokes in its writings, according to cautious estimates has 30 million persons on his conscience.” (NZZ [Neue Züricher Zeitung], Lucien Scherrer 28 April 2017)

 Massive pressure was exerted on the organizers of the big May festivity with altogether 15,000 participants to distance themselves from the exhibition. But these withstood in a courageous way!

The angry reactions of the bourgeois media show that especially today, 100 years after the socialist October Revolution, those in power fire from all guns against socialism/communism. The methods of modern anticommunism are similar all over the world. Just take enough “alternative facts”, a little bit of Stalin, much blood and a small touch of truth for credibility, and stir once vigorously and the anticommunist atrocity story is ready.

Additionally, for example, in Ukraine is adopted the so-called decommunization law, aimed at eradicating the memory of the struggle for socialism. Communist symbols are forbidden, and even keeping Lenin or Marx's books at the house can be regarded as a criminal crime.

The betrayal of socialism by a degenerated bureaucracy and the restoration of capitalism is consciously covered up in order to pursue an obscure cheap propaganda of anticommunism. What is the source of these “facts” which the imperialists refer to? For the main part their source is Khrushchev's secret speech attacking Stalin and socialism. Subsequently some “historians” (Stéphane Courtois, Robert Conquest or “victims” like for example A. Solschenizyn, an avowed admirer of pre-revolutionary tsarism and frequent lecturer at extreme right-wing and fascist seminars and events) made use of these “facts” and supplemented them with wild number games. So for example the socialist Soviet Union and Stalin personally are blamed for all the victims of the 2nd World War – because without the existence of the socialist Soviet Union Hitler would supposedly not have started a 2nd World War!

The motive is evident: it is the fear that more and more people, not only Marxists-Leninists but also honest democrats and peace forces are looking for a perspective alternative to capitalism. The perspective of genuine socialism shall be taken away. But every day the imperialist reality provides new arguments for a societal, socialist/communist alternative: Every year 30 million people die because of capitalism, meanwhile there are 65 million refugees who have to leave their home country because of capitalist wars, famine resulting from speculation etc. and who drown by the thousands in the Mediterranean Sea. The multinational corporations have subjugated the world.

 The angry attacks of anticommunism are an incentive for us to intensify the ICOR activities on 100 Years October Revolution.

 Solidarity with the comrades of MLGS and with all those who are affected by repression because they stand up for the socialist alternative!

 Participate in the ICOR activities in the individual countries, as well as in the international theoretical seminar from 27 to 29 October 2017, in the international mass event on 28 October and in the visit to St. Petersburg from 5 to 9 November 2017.
