Hands off Rojava! (new!)

ICOR-Resolution, 19 February 2016 After concluding to work in the amendments in the resolution “Hands off Rojava!” we received an important suggestion for improvement.

The Turkish government is threatening with massive military action against the Kurdish freedom movement and the Kurdish population in Rojava/Western Kurdistan. First air raids are already being flown against PKK camps in Northern Iraq. The Turkish army under President Erdoğan has again been proceeding with open state terror against progressive and revolutionary forces in Turkey and the Kurdish civil population for months. In Rojava, the democratic forces around the People's Defense Units YPG and the Women's Defense Units YPJ are gaining considerable ground with the aim of connecting the three Rojava cantons. In order to prevent that and to inflict a defeat on the Kurdish freedom movement, Erdoğan has been threatening to invade Rojava for weeks. But he very well knows that he cannot do that without permission from the USA. That is a dilemma for him.

The assault in Ankara killing 28 persons in an especially protected government district, is only a pretext for a war against Rojava which had been planned well in advance. Without the slightest evidence the Turkish government blames the PKK and the Syrian-Kurdish YPG for the assault. Those have immediately rejected that. The YPG declared: “As People's Defense Unit YPG we again point out that we have no connection to the explosions in Ankara and we call upon all neighboring states and powers to respect the Rojava revolution and the will of the people.” It is striking that the assault fits into the political calculation of the Turkish government which wants to win the public opinion to its reactionary side and to receive green light from the USA and Russia for the attacks on Rojava. Similar to Saudi Arabia it tries to gain influence as a regional power.

The German Merkel-Steinmeier-government is the closest ally of the Erdoğan regime.

Upon the urging of Germany Turkey receives three billion Euros from the EU in order to stop and imprison the people who have to flee from the war in Syria. After the overthrow of Assad has failed for the time being, imperialist forces are trying to defeat the Kurds. In Europe Turkish-Kurdish organizations leading the Kurdish liberation struggle are persecuted and criminalized. European governments are actively participating in the blockade policy against Rojava. The entry of humanitarian helpers of the ICOR into Rojava was sabotaged. The various imperialist forces hypocritically speak of humanity, democracy, love of peace – but in reality they practice imperialist, reactionary, actually counter revolutionary policy!

Rojava – that stands for the successful struggle for freedom and democracy, for women's rights, environmental protection, respect for all nations and religions. In Kobanê in Rojava the religious-fascist IS suffered a significant defeat: At the beginning of 2015, after 134 days of siege, the city was liberated by the heroic struggle of the Kurdish people, the international solidarity and the support of the progressive public abroad. Worldwide demonstrations were the close allies of the liberation fighters!

In Rojava solidarity does not remain just a verbal matter. On the one hand the international freedom battalions are fighting against the fascist IS gangs. On the other hand the revolutionary world organization ICOR with its 50 member organizations made a solidarity pact with the Kurdish liberation struggle. It means a mutual self-obligation for collaboration in solidarity. 177 brigadists of ICOR, men and women, built a health-care center together with the self-governing bodies and the population of Kobanê in order to secure the victory. So far no other international organization has built up anything there. The proletarian-internationalist spirit of the ICOR became revolutionary action here! The Kurdish liberation struggle is becoming a part of the international struggle for freedom, democracy and socialism more and more. 170,000 refugees have already been able to return to Kobanê – now a new wave of refugees is impending .

Any attack against Rojava is an attack on the international revolutionary and working-class movement, too – against freedom and democracy and against all peace-loving and internationalist people!

Solidarity with the Kurdish liberation struggle!

For an end of any cooperation with the Erdoğan regime of Turkey!

Long live international solidarity!

We call for protest:

Hands off Rojava! Diplomatic recognition of Rojava and opening of a humanitarian corridor – immediately!

Freedom for Kurdistan!

Immediate withdrawal of all imperialist troops from Syria!

End the condamnation of the PKK and YPG as “terror organizations”!

For peace, freedom, socialism!

Workers of all countries, unite!

Workers of all countries and oppressed peoples, unite!
