Resistance Festival 2015

Dear International Friends,

This year the Resistance Festival takes place, for the 8th time in a row, in the Agricultural University of Athens – from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 June. As many of you already know, each year our Festival hosts left political parties, popular leaders, intellectuals and progressive movements from a broad political and geographical spectrum. Characteristically, last year Alexis Tsipras (SYRIZA, Greece), Pablo Iglesias (PODEMOS, Spain) and the senator Trevor O’ Clochartaigh (SINN FEIN, Ireland) were the main speakers in one of the Festival’s central meetings.

Our Festival has gradually become a reference point within but also outside Greece, making possible the exchange of views and experiences among various movements and facilitating their coordination in the struggles against our common enemies. Especially in 2015, with our country having a new government after the electoral victory of SYRIZA, but also facing an increasingly asphyxiating blackmail by the IMF-EU-ECB troika, Resistance Festival is expected to become a magnet for thousands of people from Greece and worldwide, who are aspiring for a positive way out.

This year we shall have once again the honor and pleasure to welcome important guests – among others:

• the Vice-President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia Álvaro García Linera, whose ideological and political work constitutes an inspirational challenge for the Left in the 21st century;
• the prolific writer and longtime left activist Tariq Ali, one of the most trenchant critics of corporate capitalism;
• the progressive intellectual and internationally recognized economist Samir Amin, director of the Third World Forum.
