We support the 2013 June resistance

by ICOR Europe, 2nd Continental Conference, 23 June 2013

The 2013 June resistance in Turkey was the explosion of big rage and protest of the people's masses against the capital and the AKP government.

The working class and the oppressed want freedom. They resist the attacks and bans of the AKP government concerning different areas of life. They resist with militant actions, like an uprising and are revolting. Workers, labourers, youth, women, Kurdish and Alevi people are participating in the social movement which flared up in Istanbul-Taksim and at the Gezi Park. The regime killed 5 resistant fighters with its attacks using gas bombs, rubber bullets and water canons, thousands of people have been hurt, dozens of them seriously.

Thousands have been detained, among them followers of revolutionary and progressive parties up to fans of football clubs like Besiktas. Dozens affiliated to the ESP, SDP and other parties have been thrown into prison.

Turkey is at the beginning of a new revolutionary process. The people's uprising made the awakening of democratic consciousness possible which will save the masses of the Turkish labourers from the poison of chauvinism. And today the opportunities, dynamics and the basis for a united revolutionary struggle have become even stronger. The task of revolutionary leadership is imposed both historically and politically and is an urgent need of today's class struggle.

ICOR Europe supports the people's uprising which has flared up in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, the impact of which is also spreading to the Middle East, the Balkans and Europe. It supports the demands of the Kurdish people for a just and dignified peace and organizes solidarity. ICOR demands immediate release of the revolutionary and antifascist prisoners of the ESP ( Ezilenlerin Sosyalist Partisi), SDP (Sosyalist Demokrasi Partisi), other parties and activists. It supports the demands of degrading those responsible for the disproportionate use of violence against the people and to punish the murderers of the militant Ethem Sarisülük of TIKB and the other people who have been killed.
