CONDOLENCES ON THE DEATH OF HUGO CHAVEZ
The death of Hugo Chavez is a great loss to the Venezuelan people and also to the anti-imperialist movement all over the world. He stood tall as a representative of the resurgence of the Bolivarist anti-imperialist tremd all over Latin America. In spite of active resistance from the USA, he won two terms as the President of Venezuela.
Two years ago, he had also mooted the need to build up a ne International of the Communist movement, “The Fifth International”. Though not calling himself a communist, he was a friend of the working class and the common people all over the world. At a time when the debt crisis was threatening to engulf all of Latin America and when imperialism was prescribing policies which would deepen the misery of the people, Chavez came up with policies opposing imperialism and throwing out the multinationals from Venezuela. His example inspired a series of anti-imperialist uprisings in Latin America which have now brought to power anti-imperialist forces in many of the countries there.
We mourn the death of a staunch anti-imperialist comrade and offer our condolences to his family and friends and to all the people of Latin America
